As we reach Gorakshep, the air thins, and we find ourselves in the highest village in the valley. But the adventure doesn't stop here; it's just the beginning. Our next destination is none other than the renowned Everest Base Camp.

The trail beckons us forward, leading us to descend the moraine until we stand at the very heart of Everest Base Camp. Here, the views are nothing short of spectacular – the iconic Khumbu Ice Fall, the towering Nuptse, and the mountain range that serves as the boundary between Nepal and Tibet, with the impressive Pumori in the mix.

But oh, the effort pays off! From the heights of Cho La, we're treated to breathtaking views, peering west over the stunning landscapes of Gokyo and the majestic Kyajo RI Peak. Once we conquer the summit, a steep descent awaits, leading us down to the Cho La Base Camp. But the adventure doesn't end there – we press on, continuing our journey to the enchanting Gokyo.

It's almost like stepping into paradise after conquering the challenging terrain. The beauty that unfolds is a reward in itself, making every step, every climb, and every descent worth the effort. Our journey unfolds as we follow the trail of Gokyo RI and then take a turn towards the south. As we make our way, we hug the shores of the lakes, and you'll notice the path marked by cairns, those little stacked stones guiding our way. The good news? It's not too steep at first. But wait, as we navigate through rockier terrain, get ready for a bit of a challenge – the final push might be a tad tiring.

Now, here comes the magic! The views from Renjo La are nothing short of unreal, with the mighty Everest dominating the panorama. It's like stepping into a dreamland of breathtaking landscapes. But, of course, what goes up must come down. Thame isn't just a stop; it's a little gem on our journey. We take the time to explore the monastery and the surrounding areas. Now, here's the thing – we have a choice. We could decide to stop in Namche for the day instead of Thame, but here's the catch – we might miss the beauty of the monastery. Trust me, it's worth it! But wait, the adventure doesn't have to end here! From Namche, we can retrace our steps down to Phakding, completing the loop of our trek. Alternatively, for those craving more adventure, there's an option to extend the trip and venture into the Rolwaling Tashi Laptse Pass Trek (5780m) starting from Thame. And if you're feeling extra adventurous, there's the thrilling opportunity for Pharchamo (6187m) Peak Climbing – and the best part? It only requires a few additional days. Backtracking to day 03, we're retracing our steps. Even though the path is mostly downhill, don't underestimate it – the relentless slope can be tough on the knees. That's where trekking poles come to the rescue, making the descent a bit more comfortable. Along the way, we make sure to take necessary breaks, treating ourselves to relaxed tea stops. It's a chance to catch our breath, rest those knees, and soak in the surroundings before we continue our journey.

Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

We highly recommend giving yourself at least an extra day in Kathmandu before your final departure. The mountain weather can be quite unpredictable, and even in the best season, flights might get delayed or postponed for a day or more. We understand that plans can change, and if you prefer, we can arrange a helicopter charter from Kathmandu to Lukla or Lukla to KTM, though it comes with an additional cost.

During your free day in Kathmandu, you have a world of options. You can simply unwind and relax, or to make your day truly memorable, consider a sightseeing tour to the UNESCO Heritage sites (Pashupatinath, Boudha Stupa, Swayambhu/Monkey Temple). If you're up for a bit of adventure, you could opt for a 1 hour and 30 minutes Langtang helicopter tour or a 3-4 hour rock climbing session. There's also the option for a Chitwan jungle safari, and much more.
